St. Thomas is the largest and busiest of the three U.S. Virgin Islands. Charlotte Amalie, on the south coast, is one of the Caribbean's largest cruise ports — up to four ships in a day during peak winter weeks. Most charter boats and snorkel tours depart from either the Charlotte Amalie waterfront or Red Hook (on the east end), which is closer to the protected snorkeling at Coki Beach and a 10-minute ferry from St. John.
If you're staying on St. Thomas and want to get on the water, the typical day is a half-day catamaran charter that hits Buck Island, Christmas Cove, or Honeymoon Beach (on the small Water Island). Full-day tours often add a stop at Trunk Bay on St. John. Operators we work with include independent captain-owner outfits and a few of the larger catamaran companies. Cell coverage is good across the island except in the deep coves; AT&T and T-Mobile both work without an international plan since the USVI is U.S. soil.
